The mechanics are not linear, meaning you can advance from point A to B in several ways. They don't hold your hand and you can tackle the situation in whatever way you want. The game is very challenging, it has its own challenges and achievements and I like how flexible it was. You will at least play each stage for an hour or 2 (and the game will always reminds you to save your progress) and the way the enemies are arranged is very challenging where you can't attack them head on because each enemy watches out for his friend thus you have to take those on the back or try to get creative. I loved how each stage feels very difficult and challenging that you have to analyze the stage, AI, tools and surroundings in order to find a solution. However in this game the AI is very alarmed by your presence thus it will search even through the bushes and will keep searching for you for quite some time in case you raise its suspicion. For example when they see you and after raising the alarm they just search for few seconds and return to whatever they were doing. Gameplay: One of the issues in many stealth games is how dumb the AI can be.

I had my share of surprises but it isn't the main focus of the game. Plot: The story is not something special but it has its own twists and turns. Each character offers a specific way for tackling each challenge and that's one of the things that I liked is that you don't have a specific way to complete a mission, it is mostly on your preference. Each character has a unique kit which keeps things interesting and fresh. So I gave it a shot and I was surprised by how well the game combines the stealth elements with RTS.Ĭharacters: The characters were not the best but they were unique and interesting. I love stealth games but having an RTS stealth game was somewhat weird because I am used to RTS games being about building bases and attacking other players.etc. Here is my review on the game (no spoilers):. It is very cheap and has plenty to offer with its current price. It took me 25 hours to complete all 13 missions on Normal difficulty without raising a single alarm and without killing a single civilian on any of them. It would have been nice to know that Takuma's bombs had a non-lethal alternative much, MUCH earlier on.

The second complaint is that a vital gameplay hint that is never explained in-game didn't appear for me on a loading screen until halfway into the very last mission. His abilities are as useful as any other character's, but since the old man has very limited mobility you essentially have to clear the way for him on many occasions. The first is that in too many missions featuring Takuma he is more of a burden than a help. Briefly distracting them successfully 'reset' their patrol route. I only encountered a single bug on my entire playthrough, when a group of guardsmen kept marching in place. Never have I played a game that offers such tense, edge-of-your seat stealth gameplay on beautifully designed maps with excellent gameplay mechanics and a simple but well told storyline featuring interesting characters.

When I saw the screenshots for Blades of the Shogun and the glowing reviews I knew I had to try it. I grew up playing Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood and it has always carried a special place in my heart.
